Just more proof that the little guy can win with tenacity and a never die attitude. Thank you to all who have contributed effort and money to the cause. Without the effort of the website, the lawyers, the fundraisers and the little people (hobbits?), Hastings Point has been saved from turning into a mass of tiny units and has been kept as a playground for everyone. But the fight is not yet over, there is still one blight to fight! Lot 156 must retain its classification as a flood plain, so as to prevent flooding in the North Star Caravan Park and Creek Street

Congratulations to everyone who have supported this beautiful, little, unique village of Hastings Point, including the Planning Staff at Tweed Shire Council who worked so hard to come up with an amazing plan to protect the village, the Estuary and the environment.
Thank you also to the four Councillors who stood by the community and the Planing Staff, and gave their stamp of approval to the new Development Control Plan for Hastings Point.
It is so much appreciated by the residents and the many visitors who love to come here for their holidays with their families!
Thank you to each and everyone, not only members of the community, but other interested people who have fought so hard for many, many years to protect this very special area from over development.

What a wonderful result! It is fantastic to have fought the good fight and won. Thank you to each and everyone of you who made this a reality – who made this dream come true – Hastings Point is special and it is wonderful that it will remain that way (and perhaps even set new standards for small coastal villages in other areas). I think this is proof of the motto “Don’t ever give up” – Congratulations to Hastings Point – You will remain a unique and precious village for all to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone involved. For too long councils have been in bed with developers. It is great that community wishes have prevailed.
Now for the next battle, rising sea levels.
I attended the first community involvement session at the football club and noticed that the hill behind HP is crown land and was included in the development area for HP. At Wooli Clarence Valley Council is offering $20,000 and a new block of land for owners to vacate their beach front residences and retreat.
Some fore thougth here perhaps Council can earmark the hill for future relocation of the village when we must all vacate or existing coastal villages.
